In 1963, a civil rights bill was introduced by John F. Kennedy in the legislative assembly, proclaiming “all Americans the right to be served in facilities which are open to the public hotels, restaurants, theaters, retail stores, and similar establishments” and this in turn led to passing of the landmark Civil Rights Act of 1964, reforming the earlier decadent laws related to gender or racial segregation at public establishments and at workplaces.
